Pasture pest control
Our BioPest blend, when used in combination with BioFish N, delivers powerful pasture pest suppression and rapid pasture recovery. In Ashburton, a severely grass grub-damaged paddock saw a full turnaround in just three months, with only one application.
The first image, taken in August, shows extensive pasture damage caused by grass grub larvae. By November, after a single spread of BioPest and BioFish N, the paddock had recovered significantly – with denser, healthier pasture and no visible signs of ongoing pest damage. A year on, with no further treatment, the pasture remains in excellent condition, highlighting the long-term effectiveness of this biological solution.
Porina in pasture
On this Mid Canterbury farm, this photo clearly shows the effectiveness of BioPest in controlling porina in pasture. After application, dead porina were found in the pasture, confirming that the treatment was actively targeting the pest. In the weeks that followed, the pasture began to recover — with healthier growth, fewer bare patches, and improved overall vigour. This result highlights how BioPest offers farmers a reliable, biological solution for managing porina while supporting the long-term health of the pasture and soil.

Crop pest control
In this slider we see the effects of pest pressure on this crop in the South Island. The first image shows clear signs of pest damage, including reduced leaf health and overall plant stress prior to treatment.
Following the application of BioPest, the crop was able to recover naturally as soil biology became more active. Plant health improved, growth stabilised and pest pressure reduced without the need for synthetic chemicals. This example highlights how biological crop pest control works by strengthening the system around the plant – supporting resilience, recovery and long-term performance rather than relying on short-term suppression alone.

Pasture restoration
On this dairy farm in the Rakaia area, Canterbury, widespread grass grub damage had left the pasture thin and patchy.
Rather than reseeding, the farmer applied BioActive’s biological fish fertiliser with additional BioPest. The pasture regenerated naturally, developing significantly denser and healthier ground cover without new grass seed being sown.
These images show the same paddock in April 2025 and August 2026, highlighting the pasture’s recovery and the longer-term benefits of supporting both pest control and soil health.
